  • Why Do I Need Travel Insurance?

You may wonder what the point is of having annual travel insurance. The point is that accidents happen everywhere; they don’t care that you are on a cruise of a lifetime.

You may think that your health insurance back home will cover any expenses you might have if you get sick or have an accident. They probably will not cover you in a foreign country.

Travel insurance will pay for illness and accidents, and if the worst happens, it will pay for repatriation should you have an accident and need to be transported to your home country. If tragedy strikes and the worst happens, it will also pay for having the remains of the deceased repatriated to their home country.

Travel insurance usually covers more than just medical expenses. Most will also cover the cost of lost baggage, lost or stolen passports, cancelled flights and other problems that plague travellers. When you travel a lot either for business or pleasure, it is wise to have annual travel insurance and be ready for those ‘just in case’ problems.
